Are you looking to lower your blood pressure naturally?
Study Summary
New research suggests that resistance-breathing training could help. After 6 weeks of daily resistance breathing, participants had an average drop in systolic blood pressure of 9 mmHg.
What is resistance breathing? Users breathe in and out of a resistance-breathing training device for a couple of minutes a day. The device makes use of users' breathing muscles by adding resistance to their breath.
Researchers indicated that these results were as significant as changes you see with some blood-pressuring lowering medications. These results were also similar to results seen in those with high blood pressure who start exercise regimens.
The Hearty Take
Traditional lifestyle recommendations for lowering blood pressure include exercising and eating a healthy diet. While both are important recommendations, this new device is promising for lowering blood pressure - especially for those who cannot exercise. We are excited for research to cement these findings!
