Dec 19, 2022

What is uric acid? The waste product, uric acid, is made by the body in response to eating certain foods that contain chemicals called purines. Some of these foods include: alcohol, red meat, corn syrup, and seafood. Uric acid can also accumulate for a variety of other reasons including being overweight and genetics. Dr. David Perlmutter, a renowned Board-Certified Neurologist, believes that lowering uric acid is crucial to health because:

  1. High uric acid levels have a role in diabetes and obesity.
  2. High uric acid levels have a role in elevated blood pressure.
  3. High uric acid levels have a role in kidney disease.

For more on how to ensure uric acid levels are under control, check out his new book “Drop Acid”
